Parking & Road Closures

Parking

For all parking information please visit the Park Plymouth website (this includes handicapped and EV parking/charging areas).  Please be sure to check where you are parked for time limits and don't forget to pay the parking meters between the hours of 9:00 am and 7:00 pm to avoid being ticketed.  


See below for information from the Plymouth Police Department on parking restrictions:

 

There will be NO OVERNIGHT PARKING throughout the downtown area beginning at 12AM on July 4th.  This includes Court Street from Cordage Park to North Street, Main Street, Main Street Extension, and Water Street. Any vehicle found in violation will be ticketed and towed beginning at 6AM. 


There will be NO PARKING on Water Street between Union and Brewster Streets, the west side of Water Street between Brewster Street and Park Avenue, Carver Street, Market Street, and Summer Street from Market Street to Westerly Road all day beginning at 5AM. 


Water Street will close between Union and Brewster Streets beginning at 6:00 AM and will remain closed until the conclusion of the Fireworks.  Fireworks will begin at approximately 9:30 PM.


There will be NO PARKING on the east side of Sandwich Street from Water Street to Stephen’s Field beginning at 5AM. This will remain in effect until after the Fireworks.


There will be NO PARKING all day on Morton Park Road and Thoreau Road.


Road Race

The annual July 4th 5K Road Race will precede the Parade starting and finishing on Water Street at DCR Pilgrim Memorial State Park beginning at 7:30 AM.  Runners will head north on Water Street, take a left on Nelson Street, right on Court Street, right on Robbins Road, right on the rail trail through Nelson Park and take Water Street back to the finish line at the bottom of Cole's Hill.


Parade Traffic

The parade will step off from Cordage Park beginning at 9 AM.  It will proceed south on Court Street to the Downtown area along Main Street and Main Street Ext. turning left onto Water Street ending at Plymouth Rock.  


There will be NO OVERNIGHT PARKING along the parade route. Vehicles found in violation will be ticketed and towed beginning at 6AM. Court Street will be closed at Forest Avenue at 8AM. There will be further parking restrictions on all side streets from North Plymouth along Court Street through the Downtown area for the duration of the parade.


ALL PARKING RESTRICTIONS WILL BE CLEARLY MARKED WITH SIGNAGE AND BARRELS


Fireworks Traffic

Fireworks traffic through the downtown and waterfront area will have the following restrictions:

  • Route 3 north and southbound off-ramps will be closed at the start of the Fireworks.


Following the Fireworks:

  • All Samoset Street traffic between Court Street and Route 3 will be diverted westbound ONLY – Eastbound traffic will be diverted onto Route 3 southbound.
  • Westerly Road will be closed between Summer Street and Samoset Street to through traffic. The northern end of Westerly Road will be closed at Alden Street with traffic diverted to Standish Avenue. 
  • All Summer Street traffic will be diverted westbound – All eastbound traffic on Summer Street will be diverted at Pilgrim Hill Road.
  • All Sandwich Street traffic from Water Street will be diverted southbound to Jabeez Corner.
  • All traffic on Main Street Ext., Main Street and Court Street between Sandwich and Samoset Streets will be diverted northbound.
  • All Water Street traffic will be diverted up Brewster Street, Chilton Street and Park Avenue to Court Street. 
  • All State Boat Ramp traffic will be diverted north on Water Street, then north on Court Street.


Per Town Bylaw: Skateboarding, rollerblading, and bicycling are prohibited in the downtown area for pedestrian safety reasons.
